If their unprovoked war in Iraq was disaster number one, the Bush administration's support of Israel's over-reaction in Lebanon is disaster number two.
It looks more and more like a regional war is beginning to break out in Lebanon from the spark of Hezbollah's pinprick military assault on Israeli forces.
The administration's refusal to work for an immediate cease-fire so Israel could destroy Hezbollah has backfired due to Israel's inability to succeed in spite of the devastation they've inflicted on Lebanese life and infrastructure. A call for immediate cease-fire on day one might have prevented the untenable situation we now face.
With this second mis-fire by the president, he is now one up on the Roman emperor Nero who fiddled while Rome burned. The administration quartet of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice are now fiddling while both Baghdad and Beirut burn.
