Senate war mongers beat war drums; Hagel still standing

Last Thursday, dead end war mongers in the Senate, Lindsay Graham (Rep. SC), Ted Cruz (Rep. TX) and especially John McCain (Rep. AZ), spent 8 hours trying to upend the nomination of former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel to become Defense Secretary. Fortunately, emulating their sorrowful track record of failure in their wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan, they failed.

Hagel's nomination is critical to America and the world because he represents the first genuine break with the war party which imposed two criminal and self destructive, and yes, failed wars on us this century. Hagel nearly died fighting our criminal Vietnam War over 40 years ago so he is not enamored with squandering the nation's treasure getting hundreds of thousands of innocent people killed for nothing.

McCain, by contrast, personally got a lot of innocent folks killed in that same criminal Vietnam War dropping bombs on them from 40,000 feet. He become so enthused about senseless war he has spent the rest of his life promoting it. Now he faced Hagel, his old friend, fellow Republican Senator and former Presidential supporter, and treated him like a traitor, simply because he refused to sanctify McCain's idolatry of the Iraq war; simply because he wants to defuse the rush to war against Iran; simply because he supports America first instead of Israel first.

Hagel's confirmation as Defense Secretary is still not assured. What is certain is that give them a mike and a camera, the Grahams, the Cruz' and the McCains will ignore the decline of America's worldwide influence from barbaric militarism and seek to destroy any true hero and patriot who dares stand in their way.
