Sox should don Peace Symbol next Memorial Day
I was befuddled by the weird coloring on my beloved White Sox uniforms Monday till realized the khaki hats and lettering were to honor US war dead and all service folks on Memorial Day. After 17 years of perpetual war since 911, which has needlessly killed hundreds of thousands, including 6,900 US servicemen and women, I see Memorial Day as mostly a commercial for the US war party, pursuing perpetual war for power, glory and wealth.
How bout if every Major League team puts the Peace Symbol on their uniforms next Memorial Day instead? Over on the South Side we might even prevail on the mucky mucks who run the Sox to change that dreadfully named stadium for one day to Guaranteed Peace Park. Don't know if it would draw any more fans, but it would truly better honor the intended spirit of Memorial Day.
