George W, Barack's selective outrage on deadly US policies

George W, Barack's selective outrage on deadly US policies

Both former presidents delivered rare open criticism of Trump administration cuts to USAID food and medicine deliveries to poverty stricken people in underdeveloped countries. Esteemed British medical journal The Lancet reports that USAID programs saved 92 million lives there in the past 20 years. Their researchers estimate 14 million needless deaths over the next 5 years from Trump administration aid cuts.

But when it comes to the 20 month long US enabled genocide in Gaza, both have followed the deplorable US leadership playbook. Call it a war and support a ceasefire so the Israeli hostages can be released. Oh yes…and end the suffering of the Palestinian people. Neither dare not mention it’s a genocide and demand the US immediately cease enabling it with over $20 billion in weapons, vetoes of UN ceasefire resolutions in the UN, turning a blind eye to Israeli cutoff of nearly all food and medicine utterly destroying Palestinian life in their 139 square miles of homeland bombed into rubble.

Calling out Trump’s cruel, heartless withdrawal of US aid likely ensuring millions of needless deaths is easy. Demanding the Biden/Trump tag team cease enabling the worst genocide this century is, in context of US exceptionalism, hard. Barack and George W. have stuck with easy.

Democrats despise Trump…but largely endorse his unconstitutional, illegal, murderous bombing of Iran

Democrats despise Trump…but largely endorse his unconstitutional, illegal, murderous bombing of Iran

Over 6 million 2020 Biden voters abandoned Kamala Harris in 2024. Polling shows biggest reason was Biden’s enabling of Israeli genocide in Gaza and Harris’ refusal to break with him.
Trump has done nothing in his first 6 months to stop the genocide. But nary a word of opposition from Democrats to possibly the cruelest, murderous policy in US history. One reason is the genocide was enabled under beloved President Biden.
Then Trump conspired with Israel to attack Iran by pretending to negotiate a nuclear agreement, lulling Iran into unpreparedness for the dastardly Israeli attack. When Trump initiated his own illegal, criminal bombing, Democrats were again largely silent, if not supportive.
Chuck Schumer, the most powerful Democrat in the Senate, supported Trump by demanding he be “tough on Iran” and make no movers toward peace without his puppet master, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approval. Schumer justifies Israel’s Gaza genocide and illegal Iran bombing as “The United States’ commitment to Israel’s security and defense.”
House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries reiterated the Schumer talking points “Our commitment to Israel’s security is ironclad.”
Also remaining silent on the genocide and bombings were former Democratic presidents Clinton, Obama and Biden, along with failed Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.
Seven months after one of their most disastrous elections in history, Democrats remain in denial their subservience to war over peace is degrading their progressive base and future electability. There is a substantial tho largely silent, non-active peace base available for Democrats to regain their electoral competitiveness. That base wants societal uplift, not catastrophic wars. It wants US trillions invested in everything that makes life more humane and livable, not weapons and policies that kill millions in senseless wars.
Strongly opposing Trump’s unhinged, vengeful domestic policies is laudable. But Democrats supporting Trump’s more unhinged foreign policies is contemptable. Songwriting peace advocate Pete Seeger summed up the Democrats’ dilemma well: “When will they ever learn……when will they ever learn?”
