George W, Barack's selective outrage on deadly US policies
George W, Barack's selective outrage on deadly US policies
Both former presidents delivered rare open criticism of Trump administration cuts to USAID food and medicine deliveries to poverty stricken people in underdeveloped countries. Esteemed British medical journal The Lancet reports that USAID programs saved 92 million lives there in the past 20 years. Their researchers estimate 14 million needless deaths over the next 5 years from Trump administration aid cuts.
But when it comes to the 20 month long US enabled genocide in Gaza, both have followed the deplorable US leadership playbook. Call it a war and support a ceasefire so the Israeli hostages can be released. Oh yes…and end the suffering of the Palestinian people. Neither dare not mention it’s a genocide and demand the US immediately cease enabling it with over $20 billion in weapons, vetoes of UN ceasefire resolutions in the UN, turning a blind eye to Israeli cutoff of nearly all food and medicine utterly destroying Palestinian life in their 139 square miles of homeland bombed into rubble.
Calling out Trump’s cruel, heartless withdrawal of US aid likely ensuring millions of needless deaths is easy. Demanding the Biden/Trump tag team cease enabling the worst genocide this century is, in context of US exceptionalism, hard. Barack and George W. have stuck with easy.
