Joe should step aside for Bobby for Dems to keep White House

Joe should step aside for Bobby for Dems to keep White House

Joe Biden’s chances of being reelected appear dimmer daily. Despite a robust economy after vanquishing the covid epidemic, he’s in a dead heat with all 10 Republican challengers but one. Nikki Haley tops him 49-43, a startling advantage.
Millions of Democratic, Republican and independent voters want him out regardless of significant domestic accomplishments. When Biden started with a 55% approval and steadily descended to the current 40%, his electability becomes daunting.
What to do?
Joe should drop out and allow Bobby, Kamala, Gavin, even Bernie to fight it out to lead Democrats to victory in ’24. And if the Democratic elite does not rig the nomination process, as has occurred many times since GOP big wigs ignored TR’s 75% Primary votes to re-nominate an unelectable Bill Taft, Bobby wins both the nomination and presidency in 14 months.
But simple electability in not the most urgent reason for Joe to bow out for Bobby. Biden’s foreign policy of unrelenting warfare and aggression against nuclear powers North Korea, China and especially Russia, imperils us all with nuclear winter. That is madness. Biden has painted himself, America, indeed the entire world, into a corner of war virtually impossible for him to extricate us from.
Bobby can and will. He is hated and feared by the US war party. Peace is his core issue which makes his other sensible priorities: Honest Government, Reconciliation, Environment, Revitalization, Civil Liberties, Border Security/Immigration Reform, possible.
When have we ever heard a presidential candidate speak this truth about the US warfare state and the need for peace?
“We have to stop seeing the world in terms of enemies and adversaries. As John Quincy Adams wrote, “Americans go not abroad in search of monsters to destroy.” Robert F. Kennedy will revive a lost thread of American foreign policy thinking, the one championed by his uncle, John F. Kennedy who, over his 1000 days in office, had become a firm anti-imperialist. He wanted to exit Vietnam. He defied the Joint Chiefs of Staff and refused to bomb Cuba, thus saving us from nuclear Armageddon. He wanted to reverse the imperialistic policies of Truman and Eisenhower, rein in the CIA, and support freedom movements around the world. He wanted to revive Roosevelt’s impulse to dissolve the British empire rather than take it over.
John F. Kennedy’s vision was tragically cut short by an assassin’s bullet. But now we have another chance. The country is ailing, yes, but underneath there is vitality still. America is a land rich in resources, creativity, and intelligence. We just need to get serious about healing our society, to become strong again from the inside.
America was once an inspiration to the world, a beacon of freedom and democracy. Our priority will be nothing less than to restore our moral leadership. We will lead by example. When a warlike imperial nation disarms of its own accord, it sets a template for peace everywhere. It is not too late for us to voluntarily let go of empire and serve peace instead, as a strong and healthy nation.”
Time for Joe to channel Spike Lee and ‘Do The Right Thing’; retire and allow a fair Primary campaign. It might put Bobby and the Democratic Party in charge starting on January 20, 2025. It might just also save our lives.
