Let’s pray that Nancy Pelosi has the shortest tenure as House Speaker in US history.

That is because she should be elevated to the presidency upon the resignation of both President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

For over four years these compulsive liars have been using unbridled militarism, scare tactics and outright falsehoods to bring us our unnecessary and disastrous war in Iraq. They give every indication of not being satisfied with the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and American casualties with no end in sight. They seem determined to widen the war to include their next unnecessary victim of choice: Iran.

The one third of Americans still supporting this madness is approaching the absolute limit of approval. Only Richard Nixon’s one quarter American support at time of resignation indicates the floor of true believers who refuse to see the need for change.

The 140,000 soldiers sent to Iraq with bulls-eyes front and back for all sides in the Iraq civil war to aim at is not sufficient for the Bush-Cheney Juggernaught. They want more and more targets to funnel into Iraq and then to Iran.

President Pelosi will not only shut off the soldier spigot, she will drain the swamp.
