Conroy and Hart on women’s reproductive health

Democrat Deb Conroy and Republican Greg Hart are running or Chairman of the DuPage County Board. When it comes to the critical issue o Women’s reproductive health, their campaign websites are very instructive.

Conroy’s campaign website statement of 65 words is clear: "Protecting Women’s Health: Deb believes in a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions. That’s why she’s consistently voted to protect a woman’s right to choose. During the state budget crisis, Deb worked to protect funding for lifesaving breast cancer screenings. And Deb supported House Bill 40, a bill that extended access to health care and reproductive health care for women across Illinois."

Hart’s campaign website statement on women’s reproductive health? Nothing.

Any questions?

Chicago Tribune should be careful what it wishes for: protracted proxy war with a nuclear ending

The Trib’s editorial: ‘Ukraine’s counteroffensive succeeds’ is positively ecstatic about the Ukraine counteroffensive retaking their Kharkiv Region.
The Chicago Tribune uses this singular victory in the 7 month Russian offensive as foreshadowing a possible Ukrainian victory in the war. But the Trib omitted that the 1,000 square miles recaptured represents just 2% of the near one fifth of Ukraine under Russian control. At a 2% success rate, that would require 49 more offensives to oust Russia.
But the real issue isn’t who’s winning in the moment. It’s how to stop a war with no military end in sight, and the specter of nuclear confrontation looming. That is only possible with a negotiated settlement that provides cover for both sides to accept a truce and peace treaty.
The Trib has consistently failed to support any negotiations, promoting instead billions more in US weaponry to prolong the killing for months, if not a year or more. Omitted from any Trib analysis is the tentative March agreement brokered by NATO member Turkey that could have ended the war within the first 2 months. Omitted also is how the UK sent PM Boris Johnson and the US sent Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to Kiev to demand Ukraine president Zelensky pass on the possible deal. Why? The West needs to weaken Russia. That’s why this is a US, Russia proxy war.
The Trib needs to part company with its government determined to spend hundreds of billions, possibly even a trillion or more, to win the proxy war against Russia it’s been provoking for the past 8 years.
If the Trib commented on the Cuban Missile Crisis 60 years ago like they are now about the Russo Ukraine war, we’d likely not be around to debate this critical matter of life and death.

War with Russia, China, Iran: What could possibly go wrong?

The US is locked in an endless proxy war with Russia over Ukraine.

The US is locked in rapid escalation with China leading to possible war over Taiwan.

The US is locked in a collision course with Iran over their imaginary nuclear program that could blow up the Middle East.

I’ve not been as concerned about the world stumbling into nuclear war since the Cuban Missile Crisis, 60 years ago next month. Then, I worried about being denied a long life. Now, at 77, I fret more about my children and grandkids being denied that privilege.

US world dominance since collapse of the Soviet Union is over, but it doesn’t realize it. Like a wounded animal, the US is lashing out on 3 fronts, none of which have an ending short of catastrophic war, and none of which can resurrect American world dominance.

Once the US falls into to abyss of uncontrolled war, we will be no better off than Humpty Dumpty.
