A Christmas Carol from Hell

A Christmas Carol from Hell

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is playing Ebenezer Scrooge on steroids, forcing his minions to work Christmas week. But unlike Scrooge, who was simply seeking more business profits, Schumer seeking $111 billion in borrowed US treasure to fund our lost war in Ukraine and Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.

One would have no idea Schumer is pitching endless death and destruction in Ukraine and Gaza from this Orwellian soundbite: “The Senate will return Monday. That will give negotiators from the White House, Senate Democrats, and Senate Republicans a time to work through the weekend in an effort to reach a framework agreement.” Schumer's 'framework agreement' is a framework of death.

Schumer is punishing his 99 Senate colleagues by keeping them in session seeking weapons gifts to Ukraine and Israel. The senators should be shopping for their kids, snuggled in their beds, instead of voting more 2,000 lb bombs to burry Palestinian kids squashed under tons of US enabled rubble.

Schumer is simply perpetual war posturing. The $111 billion Biden weapons boondoggle bill can’t pass this year. His House counterpart, Speaker Johnson, heeded the ghosts of criminal war past, present and future, deciding instead to let his 434 colleagues go home for the holidays instead of voting for Genocide Joe’s gifts of death to decimated Palestinian kids and the collapsing country of Ukraine.

Speaker Johnson will likely revert to his inner Scrooge early next year by pushing the $111 billion weapons boondoggle to passage. He simply wants Biden to grant him the GOP wish list on border control to go all out for all out US warfare worldwide. The President has signaled he’s cool with that.

US foreign policy in the 21st century? Humbug

Seeds of Peace - December 2023

WEST SUBURBAN PEACE COALITION

SEEDS OF PEACE

DECEMBER 2023

 NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

2023 is ending with immense sorrow for the people of Ukraine and Gaza.

After 22 months of war with Russia, Ukraine has largely ceased to exist as a viable country. Their economy is shattered and they’re running out of soldiers to continue fighting. Ukraine has incurred hundreds of thousands dead and wounded. Most of Ukraine’s destruction could have been avoided. The 2 sides were close to a peace agreement in the first month. But the US, funding Ukraine’s involvement with billions in weapons, sabotaged the impending peace to weaken Russia.

Gaza is even worse. America is also funding Israel with billions in weapons, including white phosphorus and 2,000 lb. megabombs. Israel is using them in its genocidal ethnic cleansing of the 2.3 million Palestinians. Over 20,000 US bombs have made Gaza virtually uninhabitable with over 100,000 dead and wounded. Over 75% of Gazans are refugees with little food, water, medicine or electricity. All of this is with US unflinching political and moral support.

Neither of these 2 US funded wars are supported by a majority of the American people. Our government choses to wage perpetual war, direct or proxy, in spite of public opinion.

But Americans for peace should never give up trying to end these murderous, wasteful wars. We must contact President Biden and our House and Senate members to defeat Biden’s proposed $111 billion weapons package to continue supplying Ukraine and Israel with the weapons needed to wage continued war.

Both wars have the potential to spiral out of control. Ukraine could go nuclear. Gaza could devolve into a regional conflict likely to draw in direct US involvement. Ending these wars is more than ending the death, destruction and suffering of the people in Ukraine and Gaza. It may save us here in safe and privileged America as well.

Another ignominious first for President Joe Biden

Another ignominious first for President Joe Biden

Joe Biden became the first US president to be publicly thanked for supporting another country’s genocidal ethnic cleaning of an unwanted foreign populous. On Saturday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his thanks to Biden for the lone US vote in the UN Security Council that derailed the UN resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

Netanyahu pondered why the other 191 countries were not on board America’ lockstep support of the most grotesque destruction of a captive people in Israel’ open air Gaza prison. “Other countries must also understand that it’s impossible to support the elimination of Hamas on one side and on the other to call for the end of the war, which will prevent the elimination of Hamas.”

Apparently, to defeat Hamas, Netanyahu has one strategy: push every last Palestinian in Gaza into an early greave or the Sinai Desert. To do that he’s blasting them with thousands of US bombs and other military support, depriving them of food, water, electricity; then expressing his gratitude to President Biden, the only leader who can force a ceasefire and end the dirty ethnic cleansing.

Biden remains silent on his supporting and funding the Palestinians’ demise in Gaza. But he is sending emissaries, Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to plead with Netanyahu for ‘civilian restraint.’ As their pleas are rejected, they leave offering assurances that more US two thousand pound bombs are on the way.

Ukraine builds reverse wall in losing war against Russia

Ukraine builds reverse wall in losing war against Russia

Since the Russian invasion nearly 2 years ago, Ukraine has beefed up its border defenses, even building a wall in some areas. But it’s not to keep the Russkies out. It’s to keep thousands of draft dodging Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 safely inside Ukraine so they can be flung into the slaughterhouse near the Donbas.

Besides 50 ways to leave you lover, there’s 50 ways to leave Ukraine. All the recruitment center heads have been fired for taking bribes by draft dodgers.  Truckers are selling fake driver jobs to men who then exit the trucks near or over the border. Many simply flee on foot thru mountainous areas. Some dress as women, priests or doctors. Daring ones squeeze themselves into secret vehicle compartments to be driven over the border by compatriots.

Why so many doing this? They know the war a lost cause that should never have occurred. They understand it was totally avoidable had President Zelensky and his predecessors chosen not to join NATO and destroy the Russian culture of Ukrainians living in Donbas. Besides Zelensky, they blame US President Biden for sabotaging the peace deal Zelensky and Putin were ready to sign in the war’s first month.

During the Vietnam War, US draft dodgers were pretty much limited to Canada for escape from a senseless war. Their Ukrainian counterparts have at least 3: Poland, Moldova and Romania.

This week President Zelensky comes to Washington to beg for passage of the $67 billion in weapons Biden wants in his $111 billion weapons boondoggle for Israel and Taiwan besides Ukraine. Biden could give Zelensky $1 trillion in weapons and it would not snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. What Zelensky needs in more cannon fodder. If he asks for one American to fight in what is truly a US proxy war against Russia shedding only Ukrainian blood, he’ll be whisked back to Kyiv faster than you can say…’This war is OVAAAH.'

US Creates Its Own Day of Infamy

US Creates Its Own Day of Infamy

December 8th now makes 2 consecutive calendar Days of Infamy for America. But this one, coming 92 years and a day after the first, is not from an attack on America. It comes from America’s descent into madness, enabling and supporting Israel’s genocidal ethnic cleansing of Gaza after the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel.

The UAE sponsored the UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. Within 24 hours they garnered nearly a hundred co-sponsors from the UN’s 193 members. UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez invoked rarely used Article 99 of the UN Charter to bring the resolution to the Security Council for immediate consideration over “threats to international peace and “humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza”.

But the US blocked the resolution with a dastardly veto. Thirteen other members voted for it, including some of America’s staunch allies. Even our most lockstep ally Britain abstained. The US now stands alone in supporting Israel’s campaign making Gaza uninhabitable.

Ministers from Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey came to D.C. to plead with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to support the ceasefire. But Blinken put them off till after the after the UN vote.

When questioned about the devastation in Gaza, Biden, Blinken just nod and mutter something about imploring Israel to try harder not to annihilate all the Palestinians there. Meanwhile Netanyahu tells his war cabinet “We need 3 things from the US: munitions, munitions, and munitions.” And he gets them PDQ.

How bad is that annihilation? Roughly 70% of the 70,000 deaths and injuries are women and children. UN chief Gutierrez cited Article 99 for the first time since 1971 in calling the emergency session to address the “humanitarian nightmare Gaza is facing.” He cited endless bombings that have hit 339 schools, 26 hospitals, 56 health care facilities, 88 mosques and three churches.

Besides Gaza being destroyed, President Biden is ensuring that America’s standing in the world is being destroyed as a beacon of peace and freedom.

Yes, mark December 8th on the calendar as another American Day of Infamy.
