Time to end failed, criminal Afghan war

 

Ask a hundred people you encounter if the US should continue our 12 year, 2 month occupation of Afghanistan and they'll all must likely roll their eyes and say "Of course not". The American people are fed up with up with this senseless, failed and criminal war but do nothing to stop it. The war party, which really controls American foreign policy, is pullin...g the strings to the Obama administration to seek a ten year extension beyond the announced December 31, 2014, end date for American involvement there. Up to 21,000 US and NATO soldiers would remain in Afghanistan (down from the current 96,000) if Afghanistan agrees to the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA). The enormously corrupt and wily Afghan President Hamid Karzai has so far refused to sign the BSA, holding out for more concessions such as the release of Afghans held prisoner at Guantanamo and end of murderous US raids on Afghan civilians, before signing. The US is threatening to go ahead with the December 31, 2014 pullout with no further involvement if the BSA is not signed by December 31 of this year. If Karzai doesn't sign, Uncle Sam will probably just extend the deadline and ink the BSA with Karzai's replacement after he exits office in April with millions of US bribe money safely squirreled away off shore for a slick retirement pension.

With 3,403 US an NATO soldiers dead, tens of thousands wounded, injured or mentally broken, a trillion dollars vanished, not to mention the incalculable Afghan misery, the Afghan war must be ended and ended now. The American people are not powerless to stop this insanity. Back in September, Uncle Sam had all that war party firepower locked and loaded to kill hundreds, if not thousands of innocent Syrians in our ghoulish and clumsy attempt to inject the US in another Middle East war. But millions of ordinary Americans deluged their Senators and Congressmen demanding no more war and amazingly, the administration stood down. It's time for these millions of ordinary folks to again assert their opposition to murderous and criminal war. Let's make 2014 the year that We The People made the war party turn tail and give up continuation of the longest and most futile war in American history.
