IT'S INTOLERABLE

To: Chicago Tribune Editorial Editor:

Your March 30 editorial "Shortchanging Soldiers" could easily have been written by the Bush administration. It embraces the false charge that setting a deadline to end the Iraq war and delaying funding over the current stalemate will jeopardize our soldiers in Iraq.

The only thing that jeopardizes our soldiers is continuation of an immoral and criminal war that should never have been fought and must immediately begin to be ended.

Your editorial defends prompt and full funding by saying "there's a war on" with the same import as saying "there's a hurricane occurring". This is not a natural disaster. It is a man-made disaster that continues, in part, because media giants like the Tribune continue to enable it.

Your position on the war since the rush to launch it in mid-2002 can best be described by the last two words in this current editorial: "It's intolerable".
