192. Trump neutered, but insurrectionists embedded thruout society

Trump has no future in the Republican Party; indeed in any respectable place of American society.

He’s silenced on social media, a virtual death sentence to a demigod who bypassed traditional politics to snare 74 million voters, including thousands of insurrectionist thugs who tried but failed to overturn his election loss. He’s largely destroyed the GOP, costing it the presidency, the Senate; indeed branding it as the party of treason.

The Trump brand, both person and name, are finished. The PGA withdrew the 2022 PGA Tournament from his beloved Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ. The Trump name has come down from some of the high end buildings that license his now toxic moniker. He’ll spend his remaining time on earth hiding in Mara Lago when not in court on a slew of civil and criminal charges.

But surviving are the untold thousands of violence prone supporters embedded in the entire fabric of American life. They are grandmas and veterans, cops and firefighters, CEO’s and bartenders; even a state legislator. They all joined the parade led by the worst in society. If FBI reports bear out, they will heed the call for more treason, crawling out of the crevices of their damaged lives to spew more mayhem in all 50 state capitols and DC ahead of inauguration.

In a grotesque irony, the thug who lit the match of deadly sedition begrudgingly declared that a state of emergency exists in the District of Columbia for the two weeks surrounding the 59th Presidential Inauguration. He’s authorized 15,000 National Guard troops be deployed to prevent further violence he caused, turning DC into an armed encampment.

Trump is receding rapidly into the shadows of oblivion. When will the thousands who still idolize their neutered hero?

191. How to remember January 6

'Day of Infamy' is too grandiose for the delusional lunacy of the traitorous mob, and is already in use for December 7.

How bout 'Trump's Beer Hall Putsch'?

190. Do your duty

Every minute Trump remains in office defiles American representative democracy.

Mike Pence....do your duty

Nancy Pelosi...do your duty

Mitch McConnell...do your duty

Federal prosecutors....do your duty

GOP supports president who endangered their lives

It’s an understatement to say President Trump endangered the lives of all 535 Congresspersons during the Capitol siege he orchestrated Wednesday. He nearly got some of them killed.

One Trump zealot, an Air Force vet, was shot dead trying to get at the congresspersons Trump charged stole his presidency. Four others died, including a Capitol Cop. We watched in horror as another cop was nearly crushed to death by the howling mob sent by Trump to stop the ceremonial vote certifying his defeat.

Trump broke his promise at the pre insurrection pep rally to lead the march on American democracy, preferring to host a watch party with family and fellow conspirators at the White House. He abstained from calling in reinforcements, forcing Vice President Pence, the latest target of Trump’s scorn, to order in the cavalry. Good thing. The rioters wanted a piece of Pence for disobeying treason orders.

How did the 263 Republicans react when order was restored hours later to complete the ceremonial vote? While Democrats began calling for Trump’s resignation or impeachment, 147, over half, voted to decertify Biden’s victory in support of Trumps treason.

The dead, the smashed up citadel of American democracy smeared with the feces the rioters left behind, made little dent of decency on the other half who voted against treason. All but a handful cower now, not from the long gone mob, but from the 77% of Republicans who support Trump’s presidency, including treason. They refuse to break with a monstrous criminal who belongs, not in the White House, but in the Big House.

Republican senators Toomey, Murkowski and Sasse want Trump to resign and will consider impeachment if he doesn’t. Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who votes with Trump 92% of the time, was the sole Republican to warn of Trump inspired violence before the riot, the polls favoring Trump be damned.

Four profiles in courage among 263 Republicans is a sad commentary on how far the Party of Lincoln has descended. The rest? Hey, if their Leader is supported by 77% of base, even possible death at his hand is insufficient to bring him to justice.

Criminal prosecution required for Trump inspiring violent government Insurrection

Trying to overthrow a legitimate election to remain president by inciting a violent assault on the seat of government is a monstrous crime that must be criminally prosecuted.

Trump had been inspiring this assault indirectly thruout the campaign claiming the only way he could lose was thru fraud. Once he lost by over 7 million votes and 74 electoral votes, a near landslide, he orchestrated a 2 month long campaign to overturn the ceremonial electoral vote counting in 4 critical states he lost.

He maintained this fantasy before the state legislators, the U.S Supreme, and his last resort, the Congress. A massive propaganda effort brought thousands of supporters, many armed, to his final rally as president, literally telling them to redeem his stolen election by ‘not being weak’.

The near catastrophe sent 535 congresspersons scrambling for their lives. One of Trump’s crazed supporters, who Trump promised to lead to the assault but didn’t, was shot thru the neck dead trying to enter a window of a barricaded office protecting our legislators. A Capitol Police Officer died, just the 4th in 200 years. We watched in horror another officer nearly crushed to death by the ravenous mob.

Trump watched the insurrection unfold on TV, refusing to send help; instead calling congresspersons to join the traitorous vote to complete his delusionally inspired coup. His public criticism of Vice President Pence for not supporting the coup brought cries of ‘kill Pence’ to the criminal mob.

Trump will be impeached in the House but not convicted in the Senate. The 25th Amendment, garnering Trump’s removal in his last few days, is unlikely. But neither remedy is sufficient if enacted. If Trump wasn’t president today he’d be sitting in jail without bond pending trial for incitement to riot in furtherance of insurrection that claimed 5 lives and injured many. The most grievous injury was to Uncle Sam.

Ironically, Trump does sit in jail, Twitter Jail, imposed by Twitter specifically in recognition of his incitement of the deadly insurrection…and his continuing incitement to riot on Inauguration Day. January 20. His last tweet told the next mob he won’t be there. Wonder why?

Nothing less than criminal prosecution of Trump for incitement to riot in furtherance of a coup to remain in power in required. The nation and the world are watching.

Rep. Miller should resign, but not for Hitler comment

I’m a lifelong free speech libertarian who posts provocative comments on our political culture every day. So I give my fellow commentators a wide berth of free speech freedom, unless they cross the line into obscenity or incitement to bad behavior, especially violence.

That’s why I oppose the flood of calls from political leaders and organizations for newly minted House Representative Mary Miller (IL-15) to resign for this quote at a ‘Moms’ For America’ rally in DC Tuesday, supporting Trump’s effort to overturn the election:

“If we win a few elections, we’re still going to be losing unless we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.”

It’s clearly an inartful Hitler analogy, one that can be easily misconstrued as praising Hitler. It’s just as likely Miller used the ‘H’ word simply to scare her crowd of ‘Moms For America’ about the threat of Democrats propagandizing their precious youth to keep patriotic Republicans from power. On its face the statement was harmless, tho some found it offensive and unbecoming of a congressperson.

But she should resign, along with the other 146 House members and 6 Senators, who voted to assist Trump’s treason in overturning the election. It took a catastrophic riot of Trump supporters resulting in 5 deaths, many injuries and one the worst ever domestic assaults on our government, for Trump to drop his 2 month treason against the American electoral process.

However long Miller serves, she will be more remembered for the T word of treason than the H word of Hitler.

Give free speech a very wide berth. But squeeze treason into oblivion.

No days for Trump…just one for Barr

President Trump has not spent one day of his 1,449 days in office being president of all the people. While the focus is on his inciting an insurrection at the Capitol to overturn this election defeat, we must not overlook the sorrowful record of former Attorney General William Barr.
Barr served as Trump’s second Attorney General for 678 days, from February 14, 2019 to December 23, 2020. He replaced Attorney General Jeff Sessions, fired for refusing Trump’s command to quash the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. To his credit, Sessions refused to function as Trump’s personal lawyer instead of his constitutional job as the People’s Lawyer.
Barr, who previously served as George H.W. Bush’s Attorney General from August 16, 1991 to January 20 1993, had no such qualms about serving as Trump’s personal lawyer while his AG. He grievously mischaracterized the conclusions of the Mueller Report on Russian interference in the 2016 election before the full report was released, given Trump cover to deflect guilt and impeachment. He bought into Trump’s fantasy that mail in voting, critically required during pandemic, would represent an illegitimate election. He dismissed worries about white supremacist threats and violence, even after the Wolverine Militia were arrested for trying kidnap and possibly kill the Michigan governor.
But Barr gets credit for one day, November 30, 2020, as the People’s Lawyer, when he told Trump and the nation that the election was fair and legitimate. Barr, like Sessions before him, found himself under Trump’s self serving bus, and he soon quit...or was fired.
One day of 678 as the People’s Lawyer is pretty bad. But it pales to Trump’s 0 for 1,449 as the People’s President.
