After 2 years, 4 months, 24 days, Uncle Sam admits MBS did it.
The U.S. finally confirmed what every honest person and country knew on Day One after the Saudi killing of Jamal Khashoggi. The Saudi ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmon (MBS), ordered the grisly assassination in October, 2018, to rid him of an influential Saudi critic.
Former President Trump gave MBS a pass at the time saying essentially ‘Maybe he did it, maybe he didn’t’. Why? Two reasons. MBS buys tens of billions in U.S. weaponry which helps keep U.S. munitions makers and the U.S. economy humming.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia is a prime ally in the effort to destroy the hated Iranian regime, our number one of many regimes targeted for regime change. We so obsessed with that goal we’ve helped MBS kill hundreds of thousands of civilians in neighboring Yemen simply because we believe the Houthi rebels they’re fighting there are aligned with Iran.
Hey, what’s one more death at the hands of America’s best ally even if he is a U.S. resident, Washington Post columnist and revered humanitarian critic of ghastly Saudi authoritarianism.
Now that MBS is implicated, Uncle Sam is sure to demand justice. Wrong. President Joe is simply going to recalibrate the U.S., Saudi relationship. This entails bypassing MBS and discussing war against Yemen and Iran directly with his daddy, 85 year old King Salman. MBS must be crushed.
As the pro war talking heads yapped on cable news yesterday, ‘We can’t let a little thing like murder and dismemberment of a U.S. resident derail American, Saudi interests.
America’s true interests, promoting peace and humane treatment of governmental critics, have been dismembered as surely as the hapless Khashoggi two and a half years ago.
