After 2 years, 4 months, 24 days, Uncle Sam admits MBS did it.

The U.S. finally confirmed what every honest person and country knew on Day One after the Saudi killing of Jamal Khashoggi. The Saudi ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmon (MBS), ordered the grisly assassination in October, 2018, to rid him of an influential Saudi critic.
Former President Trump gave MBS a pass at the time saying essentially ‘Maybe he did it, maybe he didn’t’. Why? Two reasons. MBS buys tens of billions in U.S. weaponry which helps keep U.S. munitions makers and the U.S. economy humming.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia is a prime ally in the effort to destroy the hated Iranian regime, our number one of many regimes targeted for regime change. We so obsessed with that goal we’ve helped MBS kill hundreds of thousands of civilians in neighboring Yemen simply because we believe the Houthi rebels they’re fighting there are aligned with Iran.
Hey, what’s one more death at the hands of America’s best ally even if he is a U.S. resident, Washington Post columnist and revered humanitarian critic of ghastly Saudi authoritarianism.
Now that MBS is implicated, Uncle Sam is sure to demand justice. Wrong. President Joe is simply going to recalibrate the U.S., Saudi relationship. This entails bypassing MBS and discussing war against Yemen and Iran directly with his daddy, 85 year old King Salman. MBS must be crushed.
As the pro war talking heads yapped on cable news yesterday, ‘We can’t let a little thing like murder and dismemberment of a U.S. resident derail American, Saudi interests.
America’s true interests, promoting peace and humane treatment of governmental critics, have been dismembered as surely as the hapless Khashoggi two and a half years ago.

Rep. Miller pivots from Hitler to God for looney political quotes

Back on January 5, a day before Trump’s failed coup against his election defeat, newbie Illinois representative Mary Miller gained nationwide notoriety with this awkward Hitler reference before a pro Trump group gathering before the next day’s festivities in DC: “If we win a few elections, we’re still going to be losing unless we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.”
Tho she survived an avalanche of calls to resign for using the H word, it took Miller just 7 weeks to offer us another gem. Commenting on conservative extremist Illinois state senator Darren Bailey, who announced his bid to unseat Governor Pritzker next year, Miller opined: “If Darren Bailey is governor of Illinois, then there is a God in Heaven.”
Tho a non-theist, if there were a God I don’t believe he’d be supporting covid denier Senator Darren Bailey. He lost a lawsuit to prevent Gov. Pritzker from extending stay at home orders for more than 30 days when pandemic was raging. By a lopsided 81-27 vote, the Illinois House last May expelled him from a public legislative meeting for refusing to wear a mask. On pandemic at least, Bailey is consistent.
A year earlier Bailey was one of 5 House Republicans to co-sponsor a bill to detach his downstate bailiwick from dreaded Chicago. Think race had anything to do with that legislative braincramp?
Maybe Rep. Miller should resign from the House. She’d be a natural in Stand Up comedy. If she were truly honest, she’d admit her Hitler and God references were ludicrous….but “The devil made me do it”.

How to kill 40,000 with nary a bullet nor bomb

That’s an easy question for Uncle Sam. His one word answer? ‘Sanctions’.
The U.S. currently sanctions about 30 countries. These crippling economic measures are designed to achieve regime change for foreign leaders America wants removed. The goal is to make life for ordinary citizens so intolerable they will overthrow the despised rulers. A State Department memo from 1960 made this explicit regarding removal of the hated Castro government in Cuba. It advocated "a line of action which, while as adroit and inconspicuous as possible, makes the greatest inroads in denying money and supplies to Cuba, to decrease monetary and real wages, to bring about hunger, desperation and overthrow of the government."
It never works because the targeted rulers deflect blame from themselves to the hated American sanctioners. Our Cuban sanctions are now in their seventh decade with no end in sight.
U.S. sanctions have been most deadly in Venezuela. Alena Douhank, UN Special Rapporteur on Unilateral Coercive Measures and Human Rights, just issued a devastating report blasting U.S. sanctions there which have killed over 40,000 hapless Venezuelans in the sixteen years since instituted by the Bush administration. Continued by Obama and Trump, they were greatly expanded by the latter in an effort to overthrow hated Venezuelan President Maduro in favor of U.S. educated and dedicated capitalist Juan Guaido.
The U.S. is still dropping bombs all over the Middle East and Africa to obliterate imagined bad guys. But It’s the seemingly benign economic sanctions doing the really heavy lifting ratcheting up the body count from America’s cruel and deadly foreign policy.
U.S. sanctions: adroit and inconspicuous, indeed.
