Roskam's One Trick Pony tax cut issue a winner for Big Oil

When it comes to helping his fabulously wealthy pals in Big Oil my congressman Peter Roskam (IL-6) is supremely generous. His $1.5 trillion tax cut bill doles out a few bucks to Mr. Mrs. Middle Class to buy their vote this November, but the true recipients are far removed from the Illinois Sixth. Collectively Big Oil gets $25 billion in one time tax bennies. Leading the pack is Exxon Mobile garnering $5.5 billion; Phillips Petroleum places the windfall track at $2.7 bill. Fracking giant EOG Resources garners the 'show' position at $2.2 billion. That $25 billion is just for starters. Everyone in Big Oil gets a 40% reduction in annual tax rates that lasts into perpetuity. No so for Mr. & Mrs Middle Class whose tax breaks expire within 10 years. Me thinks this tax cut horse race is fixed....and its not for the little guy. The Roskam tax cut bill is a One Trick Pony, owned and trained by Big Oil.

Roskam's One Trick Pony tax cut issue for re-election comes up lame

After 12 years of trying, my congressman Peter Roskam (IL-6) has finally come up with an accomplishment he's authored to spike his seventh term re-election bid. His deficit exploding tax cut bill will give a typical, but not nearly all, taxpayer, about $18 extra bucks a week to solicit their vote November 6. Then again, it's a stretch to call that an accomplishment. The cost to our nations' economic and social health is daunting: a trillion dollars added to the deficit over the next decade and slashed safety net programs which will barely make a dent in that deficit. Roskam spins like a top to deflect criticism of his abandonment of fiscal responsibility by claiming his legislation will goose the economy. The University of Chicago's world renowned economics department polled 38 economists and found just one believes that Roskam horse can run. CNBC, no far left media outlet, did a poll that found only 13% of respondents found the new withholding amounts are helping "a fair amount" or more. Roskam can't tout a single improvement in 12 years to improve our health care crisis, reduce machine guns mowing down our students and concert goers, reverse global warming or provide dignity and hope to the less fortunate. His tax cuts and jobs bill is an economic time bomb designed to reward the already wealthy while tossing crumbs to struggling taxpayers. We call that a One Trick Pony....and it's come up lame.

Many, but likely not all, of the sorrowful lands we're needlessly bombing and killing innocents includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, Somalia, and Niger. Don't forget Yemen where we're just supplying the Weapons of Civilian Destruction (WCD) to our best death merchant customer Saudi Arabia for them to do the foul deeds. To paraphrase Sean Connery in the 'Untouchable's' flick..."Nobody kills like Uncle Sam."
