President Trump has a strange way of declaring victory in an undeclared, immoral criminal but most importantly lot war mainly killing civilians in Yemen.

 

Trump has been blasting away at Yemeni targets since Israel violated the January 19 Gaza ceasefire Trump negotiated with Israel upon taking office. That provoked the Yemeni Houthis to resume their attacks on Red Sea shipping to disrupt Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

Trump then unleashed a massive bombing campaign upon the Houthis who had ceased their Red Sea attacks when the ceasefire began.

 

That not only didn’t stop the Houthi Red Sea attacks, it brought Houthi attacks on US shipping in the region. Did pretty good. Seven $30 million drones destroyed and 2 $64 million dollar F/A 18 Hornet jets sent to Davy Jones Locker.

 

Trump embarrassed and frustrated by the US losses and failure to deter Houthi attacks against Israeli genocide, threw in the war towel. “They don’t want to fight anymore…blowing up our ships, and we will honor that. We will stop the bombings. They have capitulated… we will take their word that they will not be blowing up ships anymore, and that’s the purpose of what we were doing,”

 

Trump’s comments were delusional. The Houthis were not blowing up US ships, they were inflicting drone and plane losses on US forces while continuing to disrupt Israeli commerce.

Trump completely omitted that the purpose of US bombing was deterring Houthi attacks on Israel Red Sea shipping which Houthis vowed will continue till a renewed Gaza ceasefire.

 

Houthi spokesman Mohammed al-Bukhaiti destroyed Trumps delusional blather stating “Our military operations in support of Gaza will not cease until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade on its residents is lifted, allowing the entry of food, medicine, and fuel. As for our attacks on the US, they fall within the context of the right to self-defense. If it halts its attacks on us, we will halt our attacks on it.”

 

This represents the second time the Houthis have resisted murderous US aggression against Yemen. Between 2015 and 2022, Yemen suffered over 350,000 dead from the Saudi Arabia war made possible by US jets, bombs, intelligence, and logistics But it was the Saudi/US coalition that blinked resulting in a ceasefire continuing into its fourth year.

 

Trump knows US military cannot defeat Yemen, Russia, Iran, China and whoever else he seeks to bend to his deranged will. But no matter how clear his failure is, Trump will always proclaim They have capitulated…and that’s the purpose of what we were doing.”

During his last 19 months on Earth, Pope Francis continually condemned the US enabled Israeli genocide in Gaza and demanded  its end

 

Since it began shortly after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, Francis called Gaza’s Holy Family Parish nightly inquiring of their wellbeing.

 

But he also publicly implored the purveyors of genocide to stop. Last January he demanded “We cannot in any way accept the bombing of civilians … that children are freezing to death because hospitals have been destroyed.” 

 

A few weeks earlier he pondered aloud whether Israel’s military campaign amounted to genocide. Israel responded by accusing Francis of antisemitism. No surprise there.

 

On April 3, 2024 Francis condemned Israeli killing of aid workers. He called for an investigation into the unfolding genocide in Gaza, urging the world not to look away from the suffering of its people. “I am thinking above all of those who leave Gaza in the midst of the famine that has struck their Palestinian brothers and sisters given the difficulty of getting food and aid into their territory,”

 

Francis spoke out against Israeli to the end. Just a few hours before dying, he delivered his Urbi et Orbi message—“to the city and to the world” focusing on the Holy Land, calling it “wounded by conflict and gripped by endless of violence.” He expressed solidarity with the  Muslim and Christian community where “the terrible conflict continues to cause death and destruction and to create a dramatic and deplorable humanitarian situation. “I appeal once again for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip”.

 

But neither practitioner of the genocide, Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu nor America’s Donald Trump, took notice. Trump continues to send the bombs Netanyahu uses to obliterate dozens, sometimes hundreds of innocents daily while denying them food, water, medicine; indeed everything needed to sustain life.

 

New Pope Leo XIV should take note of Francis’ peaceful demands that haven’t breached the cruelty of genocide practitioners Netanyahu and Trump. He should shame them into humanity by scheduling his first foreign trip to minister to Gaza’s Holy Family Parish where hundreds of Muslims and Christians huddle to survive the worst genocide this century.

 

Leo XIV should vow to pray with those dying souls there till a permanent ceasefire is achieved.

 

Netanyahu wouldn’t dare continue the relentless bombing with Trump’s US bombs dropped from Trump‘s US planes.

A hundred days into his pledge to end the Russo Ukraine war in one day, Trump is banging the war drums instead.

That didn’t take long. Trump is walking away from his pledge to walk away from the war both he and his predecessor Biden provoked.

He told Meet The Press Sunday he’ll support Sen. Lindsey Graham’s drastic anti Russian sanctions bill because Russia “wants all of Ukraine”. He also said Russia must give back all captured Ukraine land.

The first statement is utterly false. Russia was prepared to end the war in the first 2 months taking no Ukraine land if Ukraine would reject NATO membership and give peace and autonomy to the Donbas where Kyiv had been slaughtering the Donbas separatists with US weapons. When the US and NATO rejected that proposal to weaken/defeat Russia, the war of Eastern Ukraine annexation in Donbas was full on.

Ever since, Russia has been seeking the war’s end involving no more Ukraine territory besides the Donbas and a buffer zone to prevent future long range Ukraine missile attacks. For the past 3 years US/Ukraine refusal to end it on those terms ensures the buffer zone increases every day.

Trump’s second statement is delusional. Saying Russia must give back every square mile of captured territory will never happen. It implies that Trump will not end the war to prevent more lost territory, but continue to support it till the Ukraine military collapses and capitulates.

Maybe Trump was expressing mental disintegration when he offered those unhinged war like warnings. Maybe he still seeks a peaceful settlement but does not want to appear like a weak loser to the US national security state seeking Russia’s destruction. Maybe he’s simply buying time till Ukraine folds so he can argue he never gave up seeking an impossible victory.

But the very fact he’s pivoting from promoting peace to continuing the war does not bode well for Ukraine, the US, indeed the world still kept hostage to this war’s four yearlong nuclear threat.

May 8 marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day. That victory kicked off the 46 year long Cold War against our great WWII ally Soviet Union (now Russia).

 

 

Sadly, the 1991 end of the Soviet Union simply transferred the Cold War into a cool war against Russia which has since gone cold again

 

 

We’ve spent the last 34 years ever expanding the Cold War NATO alliance to Russia’s borders to keep them out of the European political economy and guarantee a yearly trillion dollar defense budget to prop up American capitalism. What good is the world’s largest military if you do not have a monstrous enemy?

 

 

That could have been avoided except for arguably the worst vice presidential pick in American history.

 

 

Every American today knows who Harry Truman was but few have a clue about his predecessor Henry Wallace. Wallace, a great 20th century American visionary, was shoved out of the vice presidency in 1944, denying him the presidency upon the death of FDR, and changing America and the world for the worse.

 

 

Henry Wallace has been largely written out of the American Story told to succeeding generations of Americans by the protectors of the American Super Power Myth.

 

Born in 1888 to an affluent Iowa Republican farm family, Wallace increased family wealth with his Hi-Bred Corn Company. But the Depression turned Wallace into a zealous champion of the common man, landing him the Secretary of Agriculture post in FDR's first term. Possibly the most effective New Dealer, Wallace championed the broken American farmer using curtailed production and price supports to ameliorate rampant rural poverty. His unbridled Bernie Sanders like democratic socialism of the 30's garnered him FDR's reverence and the 1940 third term vice presidency.

 

 

Wallace transformed the vice presidency for the good, long before Dick Cheney transformed it for evil. FDR made him what journalists tabbed the 'Assistant President' in his role mobilizing war production during WWII and championing FDR's vision for a truly peaceful post WWII world working in partnership with critical war ally Russia, and seeking end of European colonialism in Asia and Africa.

 

 

 In 1942 he gave his famous "Common Man" speech, declaring the 20th century must celebrate the common man, not just, as Time publisher Henry Luce postured, the American Century. In 1943, he joined with the black community following the Detroit race riot, arguing "We cannot crush Nazi brutality abroad and condone race riots at home."

 

 

His near FDR like popularity made him a lock for VP again on the '44 Democratic ticket. But with FDR fading mentally and physically, party leaders saw opportunity to dump him. His peace proclivities threatened their continuation of a war economy to combat their imaginary new Hitler in the form of Joseph Stalin.

 

 

They closed the late night convention session on the brink of re nominating Wallace for a second term. That garnered time to make deals with the other candidates to move the pliant Harry Truman from last to first in the final VP tally.

 

 

Three months into term four FDR died thrusting Truman into the White House. This set the stage for the Cold War due to Truman's capitulation to the neo-conservatives of his day such as Jimmy Byrnes and Jimmy Forestall who demanded a fresh enemy to keep the emerging Military-Industrial Complex in business. The chance for a truly peaceful post WWII world was irrevocably lost.

 

 

The hardliners won out over Wallace, but undaunted he launched a 3rd party progressive campaign in 1948 to unseat Truman. The McCarthyite red smear and personal attacks on his progressive philosophy doomed him to just 3% of the '48 vote, ending his career. Also ended was any opportunity for America to retreat from senseless Cold War

 

 

That leaves us to ponder if today’s new Cold War will rage on for another 80 years.

Karma is coming for President Trump. June 16 marks 10 years since he descended the Trump Tower escalator and defiled the American presidency by running on a platform to rid America of imaginary rapists and murderers invading America.

 

Trump’s pathology and delusion, never before seen on the American presidential stage, resonated with enough disaffected voters to achieve the presidency. It was on display thruout his term. Two stark examples. He dismissed, indeed disdained Covid science which likely led to over 100,000 unnecessary Covid deaths.

 

His deranged campaign pledge to not leave office if defeated, resulted in an attempted coup that nearly destroyed American democracy.

 

Both put his pathology and delusion were on irrefutable display for all to see and comprehend.

 

Yet his diabolical charismatic genius for not only holding his cult together, but widely expanding it, enabled him to avoid prison for a multitude of crimes, and win an even larger reelection victory.

                                                                                               

But 8 years after first taking office, Trump’s mental decline has accelerated noticeably. His pronouncements and actions are causing chaos on every aspect of American governance including the economy, law enforcement, adherence to the Constitution, immigration, administering the commons, foreign policy to name six.

 

There are 2 likely scenarios for Trump to be out of office by the end of his first year, January 20, 2026. Neither involves his death or physical incapacity such as stroke, heart attack or debilitating disease, tho both are possible.

 

The first involves his removal as acting president under the 25th Amendment.

 

It is foreseeable that Vice President Vance and a majority of the cabinet will seek to remove Trump as acting president under that Amendment due to his deteriorated mental condition making him unfit to serve. If so this will mark the first time this drastic measure to save America from presidential governing collapse  would be invoked since its passage in 1967.

 

There is one other scenario that could occur before the end of year one. Trump himself could comprehend he is so mentally debilitated that he will resign the presidency. This could be facilitated by a family intervention. He would have nothing to lose as he’s virtually immune from ever facing indictment, prosecution imprisonment for any crimes past, present or future. With Vance in the presidency possessing pardoning power, Trump will never will get the justice he deserves.

 

If either scenario comes to pass as predicted, January 20, 2026, will dawn with the most dangerous man of the 46 who have served the presidency, thankfully and finally off the public stage he has defiled every day of his 5 years in office.

My outgoing senator Dick Durbin spent his entire 29  year Senate career beholding to the Israel Lobby. In the past 25 years alone he’s received $1,131,900 in campaign cash to ignore Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza, transformed into a genocide after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. His support for a 2 state solution (Palestinian statehood) is worthless virtue signaling as he’s done nothing of substance to achieve that goal along with making America the 148^th nation out of 193 to recognize Palestinian statehood.

We need to replace Durbin with a principled candidate not ensnared by Israel Lobby money. Alas, the 5 Illinois House members mentioned as possible successors are all in the tank to remain mum on truly promoting Palestinian statehood and seeking end to US enabling Israel’s genocidal ethnic cleansing of 2,300,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

Tho not mentioned as a possible candidate, we of peace should encourage Congresswoman Delia Ramirez (D-IL 3) to seek Durbin’s open seat next year.

Her take from the Israel Lobby since her election in November 2022? Zero, nada, zilch.

That allowed Ramirez to push back against US billions funding the Israeli genocide, saying this in October, 2023: “The death toll in Gaza continues to rise. Gazans are starving. Over 1.5 million people have been displaced. Hostilities between the U.S. and Iran are escalating. And just this morning, The New York Times reported that one-fifth of the hostages still in captivity since the start of the conflict have likely died. We must change course. Under no circumstances could I have voted for today’s H.R. 7217 to provide $17.6 billion in unconditioned military funding for Israel. The supplemental funding proposed, which includes no humanitarian aid for Gaza, supports weapons of war and destruction that further jeopardize Israeli hostages and Palestinian civilians. Each U.S.-made or funded bomb dropped in Gaza further jeopardizes the chances of long-lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it now: I will only support actions that bring us closer to peace.”

Come on Krishnamoorthi, Budzinski, LaHood, Kelly, Underwood, either drop accepting Israel Lobby money to ignore the genocidal ethnic cleaning of Gaza, or drop any consideration of replacing the Lobby’s million dollar Senator Dick Durbin.

NATO leaders as delusional as Zelensky on lost Ukraine war

Thruout the 3 year, 3 month Russo Ukraine war, Ukrainian President Zelensky has steadfastly ignored battlefield reality of Ukraine’s destruction and impending defeat.

His delusions started in April, 2022 when he swallowed US and UK demands he walk away from the negotiated peace deal that would have cost Ukraine no new lost territory, albeit no NATO membership for Ukraine and neutrality between East and West.

Since then he’s lost roughly a fifth of his land, a hundred thousand plus casualties, a shattered economy…and no chance of prevailing.

Yet, Zelensky won’t budge on his goals of reclaiming all captured territory including Crimea, lost 5 years before his presidency. Nor will Zelensky give up his delusional goal of NATO membership.

But outside of US realism under Trump, Zelensky is not alone in his war delusions.

Recently, retired Deputy Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Sir Richard Shirreff advised that Europe will build up its troops, ships and planes if America pulls back from European defense against imaginary enemy Russia, “if only Europe has the will.” Shirreff appears clueless that due to European economic decline from supporting a lost war, most Western European people only have the will that it end.

Current NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is even more Zelensky-like. He trumpet’s Russia’s casualties of a thousand troops daily and that “Ukraine is not losing…and we must ensure Russia does not capture even one more square kilometer of Ukraine territory.” Rutte is oblivious that his intransigence to supporting Trump’s peace plan costs Ukraine more square kilometers of land every single day. Rutte is channeling delusional Baghdad Bob talking about “the mother of all victories” during the second Iraq war.

The oddity of all this delusion is that on just about every domestic and foreign policy issue, Trump is the poster president for delusion. On the Ukraine war he’s the only realist in the war room.
