Renaming Defense Dept. War Dept. wrong but accurately describes deranged US perpetual war policy

Renaming Defense Dept. War Dept. wrong but accurately describes deranged US perpetual war policy

President Trump’s Executive Order renaming the Defense Department the War Department disgraces and dishonors everything America should stand for in the community of nations.
What is that? Most importantly, peace and tranquility in our dealings with the other 192 UN states.
Early on Presidents George Washington and John Quincy Adams set the tone for this wise governing agenda.
Washington in his Farewell Address on September 19, 1796 warned against foreign entanglements and alliances that could lead to war and jeopardize American independence and prosperity.
Before he was President, then Secretary of State John Quincy Adams advised on July 4, 1821: America “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force.... She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit.”
Washington and Quincy Adams both spoke when America had a War Department but not a Military Industrial Complex that arose following WWII to wage perpetual war. Tho the US embarked on 80 years of senseless wars and regime change operations worldwide, it sugarcoated its belligerence by renaming the War Department, Defense. The only connection to defense was America’s willingness to intervene, even make war, wherever, whenever it suited America’s ‘defense’ of its unipolar world dominance.
So when Trump decreed it’s no longer defense but war at the Pentagon, he truly reflects our foreign policy enabling Israeli genocide in Gaza, destroying Ukraine to weaken, isolate Russia, preparing for war with China over Taiwan, obliterating a Venezuelan ship to “send a massage”, repeatedly bombing imagined bad guys in Somalia…and on and on.
If America doesn’t succeed in triggering nuclear war first, it would be wise to seek a third name change for the folks working at the Pentagon, CIA and a myriad of other perpetual war facilities. How about a Department of Peace? Then make peace, not war, its governing mission.

Delusional worse than incompetent

 Delusional worse than incompetent

During Biden's last full year the US added an average o 168,000 jobs monthly. During Trump’s first 7 full months, job grown averaged under 75,000 jobs monthly. Trump always has, is now and will till his last presidential day, claim his economic policies are great and any contrary reality is due to the Fed Chair and dedicated professionals reporting the data.
There is one thing worse than an incompetent president on economic matters…a delusional one.

World, without US, pushing back against Israeli genocide in Gaza

World, without US, pushing back against Israeli genocide in Gaza

The US remains a disgusting outlier in a world increasingly aghast at Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Since Israel went all in for genocide the day after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, 12 countries have recognized or plan to recognize the Palestinian state at the UN this month. Their reason is disgust at Israeli attempts to wipe out the Palestinians along with their right to statehood. This brings to 147 of 193 nations supporting Palestinian statehood.

Some are taking more decisive action. Norway is divesting from more Israeli companies and supporting the International Court of Justice investigation into Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Italian dock workers from the USB union have threatened to boycott all cargo destined for Israel if the Global Sumud aid flotilla is blocked from reaching Gaza. The flotilla is expected to arrive near Gaza within 2 weeks. Such flotillas are routinely intercepted by Israel least they disrupt the genocidal starvation of the emaciated Palestinians

Foreign investment is down by over 25% since the genocide began and is likely to worsen. The Israeli economy contracted 3.5% in the quarter ending June 30 with no sign of improving as Israel’s genocide costs sour while foreign investment declines.

But propping up Israeli genocide is dear old Uncle Sam. Gifted with $3.8 billion yearly for 10 years by President Obama in 2016 is not enough for Israel to keep Palestinian corpses piling up. So Congress passed the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act in April 2024 providing $26 billion in additional aid. Spending lavishly on genocide sure is a lot easier when you’ve got a ghoulish American Sugar Daddy.

America is further aiding the faltering Israeli economy with loan guarantees allowing Israel to borrow at lower than market rates. Investors turning a blind eye to genocide can scoop up high returns on the American made Israeli safe haven.

International divesting from the Israeli economy to beginning to make a dent in Israel’s lust to expand Greater Israel on the bodies of millions of Palestinians. But its a daunting task with America, In its 250th year, AWOL from that gallant effort. Much worse is siphoning off treasure badly needed for the US commons to enable completion of the worst humanitarian crime this century.

Musk’s new job title: Vice Presient of Sales Prevention for Tesla

Musk’s new job title: Vice Presient of Sales Prevention for Tesla

No wonder Elon Musk failed as head of DOGE for Trump. He was moonlighting destroying his signature brand Tesla.
He’s alienating millions of potential buyers with his scorch and burn political comments. In England he accused UK PM Keir Starmer of running a tyrannical police state, called for fresh elections and demanded Starmer release far right activist Tommy Robinson. In Germany he’s promoting far right party Alternative for Germany.
How’d that work out? His signature brand Tesla's European sales were down 40% in July while overall EV market was booming. Tesla’s share of all car sales in the 27 European countries is down to 0.7%
In the US, Tesla’s sales are down 13% or the second straight quarter. Musk won’t find many Tesla buyers from the 75 million voters who rejected Musk’s $274 Million Dollar Man, fascist wannabe Trump last year.
Tesla management would be wise to continue Musk’s exorbitant salary…as long as he stays home and shuts up.

Labor Day reminds me what I did for pay

Labor Day reminds me what I did for pay

Worked or the Man...or Woman off and on, mostly on, for 52 years from age 16 to 68. Looking back I realize how one experiences most human emotions on the job: joy, satisfaction, pride, relief, fear, angst, fatigue, rivalry, camaraderie, anxiety to name a few. Every one revealed a bit more of me and human mature to myself for use along the journey. I never felt any job beneath me if it helped pay some bills. Shortest job held was as chemical company freight handler. Couldn't lift those 100 lb. bags. Tried to finish one shift but collapsed after 5 hours. Boss laughed and said "Stay in college, kid." Longest, 42 years as logistics manager.
If I didn't miss any, here they are
shoe store stock boy
cafeteria dishwasher
bakery sanitation worker
steel foundry worker

No matter how much satisfaction working for pay provided, it doesn't top the satisfaction of the work I now do for free
